Be ready for civic polls, Collectors told

State Election Commissioner Nagi Reddy has called upon the District Collectors and municipal commissioners to be ready to conduct municipal elections any time after the High Court judgment on October 31.

Mr. Nagi Reddy, who held a video conference with the Collectors and municipal commissioners here on Tuesday, told media persons that election process would be taken up for 120 municipalities and nine corporations in the State. Elections would not be held in Meerpet corporation as division of wards had not taken place there.

Election process would begin in 3,103 wards and 8,056 polling stations would be set up. The election expenditure for candidates in municipalities should not exceed ₹1 lakh and in corporations ₹1.5 lakh. The total number of electorate in municipalities and corporations is 79,92,434.
