Bank payments under Rythu Bandhu cross ₹ 1,500 crore

The cumulative payments made by banks to beneficiaries of Rythu Bandhu scheme of Telangana government, as on Thursday, was around ₹ 1,527 crore.

This sum was paid out against 14.24 lakh cheques. The investment support scheme of the State government for farmers was launched on May 10. Around ₹ 5,700 crore – at the rate of ₹4,000 per acre – is to be paid by the government to about 58 lakh farmers. On Thursday alone, the eight banks participating in the implementation of the scheme cleared 3.27 lakh cheques for ₹348 crore.

The State Bank of India (SBI) had paid ₹ 637 crore, since the scheme was launched, against 6.04 lakh cheques. On Thursday, it paid ₹151 crore against 1.46 lakh cheques.
