Bank employees oppose FRDI bill

The Union Bank Employees’ Union (UBEU) Telangana State unit has launched a signature campaign against the proposed Financial Resolution and Deposit Insurance (FRDI) Bill, 2017 terming it as against the interests of depositors and bankers. The UBEU decided to collect 10,000 signatures and submit a memorandum to the Lok Sabha Speaker opposing the bill. Union State secretary P. Srinivas and assistant secretary P. Jagannatham launched the collection of signatures against the FRDI Bill in here on Wednesday.

Opposing the privatization of the banks, they urged the Union government to strengthen the National banks and stop merger of banks. They demanded that the government should collect the pending dues from the defaulters and reduce the service charges to the customers. They demanded the government to increase deposit interest rates to encourage the customers to deposit in banks.
