Spiritual guru Bala Sai Baba of Kurnool passed away in a private hospital here on Tuesday.

The 58-year-old self-styled godman reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at his ashram in Domalguda here, following which he was shifted to a hospital in Banjara Hills, where he died while undergoing treatment.

He was born on January 14, 1960 in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, and at 18, he built his first ashram there.

Bala Sai Baba studied medicine and philosophy. He has a good following among people in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and several western countries too.

He was known for materialising gold ornaments "from the air and Shiva linga from his stomach".
