Asaduddin has no vehicles in his name

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) president Asadduddin Owaisi, known for his fondness of motorcycles, interestingly does not have any vehicle registered in his name. He has taken a hand loan of ₹ 5 crore from his brother and Chandrayangutta legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi, and has an outstanding liability of ₹ 3.85 crore with a company for construction of his house.

According to the election affidavit which Mr Owaisi filed at the Hyderabad Collectorate, neither he nor his wife Ms. Farheen Owaisi own any vehicles. While the Hyderabad parliamentarian does not have any agricultural or non-agricultural land parcels, and commercial buildings in his name, he has three houses — one in Shastripuram, the other in Misrigunj and a third, an apartment, in Nav Sansad Vihar, New Delhi.

The cost of the Shastripuram property, now with a built-up area of 36,250 sq ft, which he jointly owns with his spouse, at the time of purchase was worth ₹ 1,53,91,200. ‘Investment on the land by way of development, construction, etc’ is worth ₹ 8.25 crore.

The affidavit states that Mr Owaisi is to receive ₹ 1.2 crore from his spouse ‘being her liability in cost of construction of house’.

Further, the house in Misriginj, as per the affidavit, was acquired as a gift. His gross moveable assets stand at ₹ 1,67, 49,518.

The affidavit records that Mr Owaisi has liabilities to the tune of ₹ 9.3 crore. His spouse has liabilities of ₹ 2.75 crore to her name.

A total of five cases were registered against the MIM president in Telangana, Maharashtra and Bihar. Mr Owaisi owns two licensed firearms: a NP bore .22 pistol worth ₹ 1 lakh and a NP bore 30-60 rife worth the same amount. The social media savvy politician has a Twitter handle and a Facebook page to his name.
