App to harness solar power

A mobile app that seeks to help those aspiring to foray into rooftop solar system business by providing them necessary technical inputs was unveiled on Wednesday by Freyr Energy.

A start-up from the city focused on rooftop solar segment, Freyr Energy’s offering is an upgraded version of an app launched last year.

Freyr SunPro 2.0, the latest version, would enable entrepreneurs to run solar business with ease by helping break down barriers such as lack of technical know-how and capital requirement.

The platform’s user interface is backed by complex algorithms that consider parameters such as local solar radiation, solar policy, other available energy sources, space availability, financial assistance requirement.

Besides helping prospective entrepreneurs, essentially business partners of the company, the app would be of use to consumers looking to install rooftop systems, senior executives of Freyr Energy told presspersons here.

“Our technology helps individuals and MSMEs to start and run their solar business with minimal investment,” co-founder and managing director Saurabh Marda said.

Director (Business Development) Radhika said the app helped business associates manage without either an inventory or brick and mortar office and with minimal investment as once consumer order details are fed in the app, the company would facilitate the implementation.

With the app, the process of capturing energy requirement to generate a detailed techno-commercial proposal would be completed in a few minutes as opposed several days to weeks previously, a release said.

Ms.Radhika expected the app to also aid Freyr Energy plans to spread wings to at least 10 countries in the next one year.

The firm, which has over 1,000 installations in 19 States, had recently raised ₹ 27 crore through a mix of equity and debt.

It intends to raise more funds to improve the technology platform.
