AP to observe June 2 as ‘Nava Nirmana Deeksha’ day

Public meetings to be held across State from June 3 to 7

The State Cabinet on Monday decided to observe June 2, which marks the first anniversary of the bifurcation of the united State, as a day of ‘Nava Nirmana Deeksha’ (building the State anew) and highlight the resolve of the government to achieve a level-playing field.

Briefing reporters after a marathon 10-hour Cabinet meeting, Information and Public Relations Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy said from June 3 to 7 public meetings would be held in the every district and mandal headquarters to explain to the people the injustice meted out to residuary A.P. post-bifurcation.

A public meeting would be held in Vijayawada region on June 8 to mark the completion of one year in office of the TDP-led government. Official sources said a pledge would be taken on June 2 to build the State anew and it was not reconstruction.

Mr. Reddy said the Cabinet also approved a proposal to provide 50 per cent subsidy on seeds for vegetables. He said an international airport company would be established at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram, besides an aviation academy and maintenance, repair and overhaul facility. The new terminal building at Tirupati airport would be inaugurated in July while night landing facility would be provided at Rajahmundry airport within a month.

The Cabinet also decided to build airports at Vinukonda, Dagadarthi, Orvakal, Kuppam and Tadepalligudem. On debt relief to DWACRA women groups, the Cabinet decided to provide 30 per cent of debt amount totalling Rs. 4,284 crore this year and 30 per cent each in the next two years.

Mr. Reddy said a three-member Cabinet sub-committee comprising Transport Minister S. Raghava Rao, Finance Minister Y. Ramakrishnudu and Labour Minister Atchan Naidu was formed to look into the problems of RTC employees. The Cabinet also decided to revoke the decision taken by the government in 2004 to make TUDA Chairman as an ex-officio member of TTD board.
