Another urban park thrown open

A second urban park has come up in the forest block of Gurramguda, launched by Chief Secretary S.K.Joshi here on Tuesday.

Located 22 km from Hyderabad on the road to Nagarjunasagar, the 60-hectare park boasts of features such as cycling track, Raashi Vanam, Nakshatra Vanam, and Miyawaki Demonstration Plantation, besides a watchtower.

It is named ‘Arogya Sanjeevani Vanam’, and is one among the three parks being developed on 465 acres of reserve forest, trifurcated by the road. Of that, the 13-hectare block near Sahebnagar depot has already been developed into a park, named ‘Sanjeevani Vanam’ which was launched about four years ago. Another bit of 115 hectares is being developed on the other side of the road leading to Ibrahimpatnam. In addition to these, 30 hectares of miscellaneous plantation is also being raised in the area, a press release informed.

Later, speaking during a video conference on Haritha Haaram, Mr.Joshi directed District Collectors to ensure better survival of the saplings being planted instead of focussing on numbers.

Principal Secretary Ajay Mishra asked district officials to choose saplings of the right height.
