Another drug racket was busted by the city police when they caught a Nigerian and a resident of Rajahmundry and seized 35 gm of cocaine from them on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old Nigerian, Okoro Mathias Chukwudi, came to Mumbai four months ago on a business visa, while the second accused, S. Durga Prasad, was working as a driver in Mumbai. After his arrival, Chukwudi didn’t start any business. While trying to land a job, he came in contact with a Ghanaian national James who was already into drug peddling.

The Nigerian joined hands with James. A month ago, James flew to his country after introducing his customers and agents, including Prasad, to Chukwudi. Earlier, Prasad had sold drugs to some persons in Hyderabad. He met Chukwudi. “The duo decided to make money by selling cocaine, hoping to find customers in the backdrop of the New Year celebrations and other festivals and came to the city,” the Commissioner said.

Prasad arrived in the city five days ago, while Chukwudi joined him later. Carrying cocaine, they were passing by the Rain pub in Jubilee Hills when the Commissioner’s Task Force (West) team led by Inspector S. Ramachandra Reddy caught them.
