An app to address sewer blockage complaints on cards

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has proposed to provide a mobile app to drivers of the mini jetting machines to tackle sewer blockage complaints in a speedy manner and give easy access to the machines, said Chief General Manager (Engineering), Revenue Circle, S. Anand Swaroop.

Once the app is integrated with the complaints module of the Water Board, it will show the complaints registered under the mini jetting machines jurisdiction. With the help of complaint details, the driver will be able to know the route map of the locations where the complaint is pending, he said.

The CGM was delivering the Late Er V.Subba Rao, second endowment lecture on ‘Sewerage System in Hyderabad – Challenges before HMWSSB’ organised by the Institution of Engineers (India) TS Centre at the Visvesvaraya Bhavan on Republic Day.

After attending the complaint, geo-tagged photographs will be captured and the complaint will automatically be closed in the system.

Mr. Swaroop explained the sewerage system in the city and different ongoing and proposed water supply and sanitation projects. The entire sewerage flows to River Musi through various open ‘nalas’ from the south and the north parts of the capital. To contain such dry weather flows in the nalas and in the Musi River, the Ministry of Environment and Forests has approved the National River Conservation Plan for laying suitable conveying mains, construction of interception and diversion structures on nalas and sewage treatment plants for treatment and disposal of sewage.
