Alair encounter: Majlis holds govt. responsible

May 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Majlis president Asaduddin Owaisi has held the TRS government responsible for the Alair encounter in which five under trial Muslim prisoners were killed. “Without the government’s nod, the encounter couldn’t have taken place,” he remarked.

Addressing a programme at Mohammadi Lines, Second Lancer on Saturday night, Mr. Owaisi said the fight to secure justice for families of the Muslim youth killed in last month’s encounter would continue.

The United Muslim Forum, an umbrella body of various socio-religious organisations, also announced its decision to step up its struggle till justice was rendered to those killed in the Alair encounter and also victims of the Makkah Masjid bomb blast.

At a meeting held here, the Forum took stock of the situation. If the government did not order a CBI probe or enquiry by a sitting High Court judge, the present agitation would be converted into a people’s movement, warned Abdul Rahim Qureshi, convenor of the Forum.

The Forum has planned to hold a public meeting in Karimnagar on May 22 followed by protest meetings at Warangal, Nalgonda and Nizamabad in the coming days.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Makkah Masjid bomb blast, the Majlis has decided to hold a protest meeting on Monday at Kalapathar.
