Dattatreya’s annual fete on Dasara

Union Minister for Labour, Bandaru Dattatreya will, on Friday, October 23, organise his yearly ‘Alai-Bhalai’, a day after Dasara, as a part of the continuation of the tradition in Telangana. On Dasara day, people worship the ‘Jemmi ’ tree and exchange its leaves with others, considering it to be gold. The Union Minister is known to organise the ‘Alai-Bhalai’ every year without fail, since the year 2005. On October 23, the festivities will begin at the Jalavihar on Necklace Road from noon onwards. The occasion will showcase the vivid Telangana culture - ‘Bonalu’, ‘Bathukamma’, ‘Gangireddu’, ‘Dappu’ and ‘Peerlu’, among others. Lunch will be an expansive affair with traditional delicacies from Telangana.
