The State-run organ donation programme ‘Jeevandan’ achieved a milestone with its 100{+t}{+h}donor, a 60-year-old woman, Mukunda Prasadi, who was declared brain dead and her relatives consented to donate her organs, a statement said.
On Monday, January 19, Mukunda Prasadi, a resident of Sangareddy, lost consciousness and was immediately shifted to KIMS, Hyderabad.
The treating neurosurgeon at the hospital declared her brain dead on Friday, January 23. Later, hospital organ donation counsellors contacted her son, Ravi Shankar, who gave consent for organ donation.
The doctors retrieved 2 kidneys and a liver and distributed it to needy patients.
