Girls should be encouraged to realise their full potential and excel in all spheres to foster inclusive growth and usher in all-round development of the country, said Priyanka, Chief Executive Officer, Khammam Zilla Parishad.

She was speaking at Bala Bandhu-2019 award presentation ceremony jointly organised by SCOPE RD, Girls Advocacy Alliance (GAA) and Childline India Foundation, all NGOs, in association with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at SR&BGNR Government Arts and Science College here on Wednesday.

Ms. Priyanka exhorted girl students to utilise enormous educational opportunities available for them to carve out a bright future for themselves. She lauded the efforts of the NGOs in promoting the rights of children. Railway Protection Force Inspector K. Madhusudhan outlined the child-rescue initiatives of the RPF. He highlighted the services of the recently-opened child help desk at the railway station in association with Childline (1098) volunteers. District Child Welfare Committee Chairman M.L. Prasad, IMA district president Nagamani, District Welfare Officer Sabitha, District Child Protection Officer Vishnuvandhana and others spoke. As many as 25 persons from various walks of life were presented Bala Bandhu GAA-2019 awards in recognition of their contribution to community-based efforts to prevent child marriages, eradicate child labour and protect children’s rights.

RPF Inspector Mr. Madhusudhan, the town-based priest A. Suresh Sharma and kazi Sk. Tajuddin were among those who received the awards on the occasion.
