Do you have any idea as to how a driving licence would have been during the Nizam era or a one-and-a-half-ana worth bus ticket? Well, if you are clueless, visit ‘Metro Chronicles Thru Lenz’, a photo exhibition at Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre, Tank Bund, and have a glimpse of the driving licence and bus tickets used in those days.
It is indeed a journey from the past into the future for the visitors. The exhibition features over 98 photographs that narrate the story of different modes of transportation, different types of coaches, carts and other vehicles used since 1760’s to the present time.
There are also photographs of special carts that were used to transport hunting cheetahs, personal coach of Nizam (Nampally Railway station) and many more at the expo.
Organised by Muse Art Gallery, the photo exhibition was inaugurated by Mayor Mohd. Majid Hussain on Saturday evening and will be on till September 30. “I compliment the organisers for conducting this exhibition, and I have learnt many things about the history of Hyderabad through these photographs,” said Mr. Hussain while addressing reporters.
The photographs were collected from individuals, organisations and many others, and a lot of effort has gone into reproducing them as many of them were in bad shape. It took about two months to work on them and present them here, said one of the organisers.
L&TMRH Chief Executive and Managing Director V.B. Gadgil said it was an impressive collection of photographs. “We will try to organize such exhibitions very regularly and also plan to set up a photo museum exclusively about the history of transportation, including the Metro Rail in Hyderabad,” said Mr. Gadgil.
