The Apollo Group of Hospitals will host two international conferences on Patient Safety as well as Healthcare and IT from April 21-23 here.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, Dr Hari Prasad, Chief Executive Officer Apollo Hospitals and Dr K Ganapathy, Apollo Telemedicine Networking Foundation President said the two-day global meet on Patient Safety Congress will focus on Healthcare associated with infections and related to the theme ‘Antimicrobial resistance’ on the World Health Day.
The conference will highlight on the need to have proactive practice and health care systems to improve patient safety.
Important speakers include Dr Prathap C Reddy, Founder Chairman Apollo Hospitals, Dr Kiran Mazumdar, MD Biocon, Bob Kochar from Mckinsey.
The Congress is being hosted jointly by Apollo Hospitals Group, Joint Commission International and Quality Council of India, Johnson and Johnson, besides others, who will focus on Healthcare associated infections.
Prasad said that 60 prominent speakers from across the world would address the conference. He said that Apollo Hospital Group gives the highest priority to the safety and quality of care for each of its patients.
He claimed that four essentials of Patient Safety practiced at the hospitals are - Surgical Site Safety, The Journey to Zero Infections, Preventing Patient Falls in Hospital and Reducing Medication Errors.
The topics which would be discussed during the conference are: Focus on standards of Patient safety in Asia, Role of IT in patient safety and global and national view on patient safety, he said.
Safety Awards will also be presented on the occasion.
The second International conference on transforming healthcare with Information Technology 2011 will begin from April 22, Dr Prasad and Dr Ganapathy said.
This prestigious global conference also being organised by Apollo Hospitals Group in association with a consortium of IT companies including Microsoft, IBM, Alcatel-Lucent, GE, Wipro among others.
As many as 50 reputed speakers and about 500 delegates across the world will participate in it. In all, 66 lectures will be delivered with 15 speakers from the USA, two from UK and one each from Australia, Pakistan, South Africa and Canada.
Forty five talks from India will be presented during the conference being supported by NASSCOM, Department of Science and Technology, International Society for Telemedicine and Health, Indian Association for Medical Informatics IAMI), they said.
The exhibitors at the conference will bring forth the latest advances made in the use of IT in healthcare while the realm of patient care is evolving every day and IT has become a critical driver of this change, they said.
The conference would help to bring along a wealth of knowledge from across the world on to a single platform. The event will witness the first healthcare IT awards ceremony spearheaded by NASSCOM and KPMG, they added.
