Riding high on success wave, the Cyberabad police on Wednesday recovered 66 stolen two-wheelers, six tractors and 450 grams of gold jewellery, all worth Rs. 70 lakh by busting five gangs.
Among the arrested were three students from Alwal, who allegedly wanted to lead a lavish life-style by hook or crook, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner, S. Prabhakar Reddy, told a press conference. The arrested, K. Vishnuvardhan, was an inter student while the other two, P. Mahesh and G. Gangadhar, were pursuing degree programmes.
Aged about 19 years, the three students from Matcha Bollarum formed a gang. They used to sell the stolen vehicles at dirt cheap rates to unsuspecting customers convincing that they would give the documents later.
The second gang comprising four members lifted 28 two-wheelers from different parts of the city. The gang leader Y. Shekhar, used to spend all his money to play game of cards in reputed clubs. Having run into debts, he formed a gang to steal vehicles. He would prepare fake vehicle documents with the help of Vijay of Jagadgirigutta, presently absconding, sell the vehicles and spend his share of money thus secured in the clubs.
In another case, K. Ravinder of Mahbubnagar district, who allegedly stole six tractors and five bikes with the help of his associate Y. Madhusudhan Reddy, was held. All the stolen vehicles were recovered but Reddy is still at large. The duo was accused of committing two house burglaries also.
A three-member inter-State gang committing house burglaries was arrested. While two of them, Shaik Nadeem and Fayaz Pasha, are from Bangalore, their associate Syed Mubarak lives in city. The gang used to recce residential colonies and notice locked houses by moving in a three-wheeler and burgle them later in the night. Gold jewellery weighing 450 grams and an auth-rickshaw were seized from them.
Fifteen stolen motorcycles were recovered from another person T. Karunakar Goud of Warangal district after nabbing him during vehicle checking as he failed to show documents. The arrests were made by the Central Crime Stations of Alwal, Balanagar, Malkajgiri, Saroornagar and the police of Uppal.
