Telangana University Registrar Y. Jaya Prakash Rao who was selected as the best teacher by the State Government received the award from Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari at an official function held at Ravindrabharathi in Hyderabad on Thursday.

This year he is the only one to have been selected for the award from the varsity.

Born at Labarthi village of Warangal district he completed his B.Sc. at CKM College and Post Graduation and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Osmania University.

He secured CSIR Fellowship and did Diploma in Patent Laws.

Though he got an opportunity to work as Research Associate at North Carolina University in the US he left it for joining a teaching post in Osmania University.

With 24-year teaching experience Prof. Rao held the posts of Professor, science dean, director, Academic Audit Cell and UGC Dean before becoming the Registrar.

Under his guidance eight students are doing Ph.D. with CSIR and UGC scholarships.

He presented over 30 research papers and authored two books.

Vice-Chancellor P. Sambaiah and academicians and students congratulated him on receiving the State award this year.
