TDF plans dharna on February 16

February 12, 2017 12:15 am | Updated 12:16 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Telangana Democratic Forum (TDF) has announced that it will conduct state-wide demonstration on February 16 demanding release of seven of its fact-finding team members, who were arrested on December 25 and kept in Sukma district jail of Chhattisgarh.

Alleging that the Telangana government was responsible for their arrest, as they were picked up by the Telangana police only a little ahead of Bhadrachalam on their way to Chhattisgarh, the Forum members, at a press conference on Saturday, demanded that the State government secure their release.

Academic and member of the Forum P.L.Vishweshwar Rao said a seminar too would be organised in future with activists of people’s movements. The bail petition was pending in the Bilaspur High Court, and if rejected there, the Supreme Court would be approached, he said.
