A comprehensive survey will be taken up soon to assess the number of Brahmin families in Telangana and formulate schemes for their benefit.
At the first general body meeting of Telangana Brahmin Samkshema Parishad held here on Wednesday, Chairman K.V. Ramana Chary said there was no authentic data on Brahmin population in the State.
The meeting thanked the Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, for constituting the Samkshema Board for Brahmins and resolved to have a meeting with all the existing Brahmin welfare organisations to seek their suggestions on February 26 at TTD Kalyana Mandapam.
The meeting constituted various committees for each of the welfare and development programmes planned such as overseeing the progress of construction of Brahmin Sadan at a cost of ₹10 crore at Gopannapally where the government has allotted land. Committees were also constituted to formulate health insurance scheme for Brahmins, help Brahmin entrepreneurs to avail the benefits under the State Industrial Policy.
Some other resolutions adopted at the meeting included financial assistance to Vedic schools, open fixed deposit accounts in the name of students interested in the study of Vedas and hand over the amount with interest at the end of their academic studies, ₹20 lakh financial aid to encourage eligible Brahmin students to pursue overseas education and coaching with hostel facility for the benefit of students preparing for competitive examinations.

The meeting resolved to open a website for the Brahmin Samkshema Board and schemes would be implemented online for transparency and all the beneficiaries would have to submit their Aadhaar card, income certificate, caste certificate, bank account number details to avail the benefits.
