Swine flu has claimed six lives and infected 116 persons, said State health officials on Tuesday following reports of the death of a woman in Gandhi Hospital due to the virus.

According to the Health and Family Welfare Department, over 2,000 suspicious cases had been tested since August 1 last year. The number of confirmed cases and deaths was not alarming for the season, officials said, adding that all preparations to handle the situation, should the virus cause an outbreak, were in place.
