Samsung India on Thursday unveiled smart convertible frost-free and direct cool refrigerators which run on solar power and a new range of air conditioners with digital inverter technology in Hyderabad.

Speaking at the launch Director Consumer Electronics Rishi Suri said that the new additions to the consumer electronic portfolio come in the backdrop of consumer emphasis on energy efficient products.

Both the smart convertible, in frost-free category and direct cool refrigerator can run on solar power as well as on home inverter. A release said that the new S Inverter air conditioner range forms part of affordable luxury segment.

The smart convertible refrigerator range begins from 253 litres and that of the direct cool refrigerator starts from 192 litres. The air-conditioner range starts from one tonne.

Mr. Suri said that with regard to consumer electronics Samsung is eyeing a double digit growth in 2017 in the country. With the rural market expected to provide the biggest growth opportunity for the consumer electronics business, the company would look at widening its reach and making inroads into them. In 2016, Samsung India registered a 20% to 25% growth.
