Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has congratulated N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu , on his being chosen for this year’s K.R. Narayanan Award for outstanding contribution to journalism.
In a letter sent to Mr. Ram on Friday, the Chief Minister said the former’s contribution to journalism was remarkable as Editor-in- Chief of the “sub continent’s most popular daily.” Even before taking charge of the top post, “you worked in many capacities in The Hindu group and your reports, analysis and articles were outstanding,” he observed.
Mr. Rosaiah said he was happy to note that Mr. Ram was selected for the award for highlighting the problems of the ethnic Tamils in Sri Lanka through series of articles, fostering better relations between India and China and for sensitising the readers to the hazards of climate change and global warming.
“ The Hindu is the widely read English daily in the country with the highest credibility, upholding values and high ethics in journalism,” the Chief Minister said, recalling that he had been a regular reader of The Hindu for many decades since his college days.
