The polling and counting of votes for election to three seats of Telangana Legislative Council from MLAs constituency which was hitherto scheduled on March 17 will now take place on March 20, the Election Commission announced on Saturday.

Similarly, the counting of votes for election to the lone seat in the Council from teachers constituency will also be held on March 20 instead of March 15. The polling for this seat will, however, be held on March 9.

Meanwhile, the Governor on Saturday called upon the members of the Assembly to fill the three seats that will fall vacant in MLAs constituency due to the retirement on March 29 of Syed Altaf Hyder Razvi of MIM, M. Ranga Reddy of Congress and V. Gangadhar Goud of TRS.

Another election for one seat from local authorities constituency is scheduled on March 17 but the counting of votes will take place on March 20. It will be held to fill the vacancy to be caused by the retirement of MIM member Syed Aminul Hasan Jafri.
