January 20, 2017 12:12 am | Updated 12:12 am IST - KARIMNAGAR:

The police personnel outnumbered the Mahila Congress activists during the dharna organized by it in protest against the demonetisation in front of the Collectorate here on Thursday. The Mahila Congress president Cherla Padma led the dharna. Former minister D. Sridhar Babu, former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, former ZP chairperson A. Laxman Kumar, former Whip Arepalli Mohan, MLC T. Santosh Kumar, DCC president K. Mruthyunjayam participated and flayed the BJP for causing hardship to people through demonetisation. There was low turnout of women activists. The police, however, deployed large number of personnel in front of the Collectorate and barricaded the road causing inconvenience to the road users.

The police kept ready buses and vans to shift the agitationists and also deployed Vajra vehicle to prevent any untoward incident. Ironically, there were not even arrests of the protesters.
