The NTR Trust will organise “legendary blood donation drive” on January 18 to mark the 21st death anniversary of TDP founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao.

NTR Trust trustee Nara Bhuvaneswari said the blood donation drive was started as flagship event by the NTR Trust in the memory of the actor-cum-politician NTR to promote blood donation across the two Telugu States. The drive was started as a commemorative event last year and was conducted at 145 locations across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. “We are trying to expand the scale of the drive this year,” she said adding events like the proposed drive were essential to create awareness about voluntary blood donation among the people.

NTR Trust chief executive officer T. Vishnu Vardhan said the response from different locations was overwhelming. In addition to NTR Trust, Indian Red Cross, Lions and Rotary clubs, various other blood banks would take part in the event. The drive would be formally inaugurated at the NTR Trust Bhavan by Ms. Bhuvaneswari and TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh’s wife Nara Brahmani in Telangana while Mr. Lokesh would be inaugurating the event at Siddhartha Medical College grounds in Vijayawada where a prototype exhibition of NTR museum would be in display till January 25.
