In a shocking incident, some minors burnt to death three puppies at a graveyard in Musheerabad while one of them video-graphed the act resulting in creation of irrefutable evidence against them.

The sickening video clip shared by one of the minors working at Musheerabad fish market went viral through WhatsApp and reached an animal activist who knocked on the doors of the Musheerabad police. A criminal case under Section 429 (killing or maiming cattle etc) of Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act was registered against the minors involved in the incident.

Seven identified

Investigators identified seven of the eight minors seen in the video clip. Penal action would be initiated against them as per Juvenile Justice Act, Inspector B. Mohan Kumar said. The minors were residents of localities near Dayakar Kaman graveyard and used to come there to play cricket on holidays.

On July 14, they went there. They picked up the puppies barely two to three months old moving in the vicinity of the graveyard and tied them to long sticks. They put heaps of dried sticks and branches of bushes and lighted the matchsticks. As the puppies tried to escape, they pushed them back into the fire leaving all the three dead.

The minors were studying in different classes. Two were working in a garage and fish market. The video clip, shared by one of the minors with a person known to him, got circulated through WhatsApp.

An activist of Peoples for Animals and lawyer Shreya lodged a complaint with the police who issued the First Information Report. After analysing the video clip, they realised the place was the local graveyard. Inquiries with residents of the locality helped identify the minors.
