Minister inspects safety in SCCL

11 underground mines operational in Singareni at present

Energy Minister G. Jagadeeshwar Reddy on Tuesday inspected the safety measures put in place by the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in its underground coal mines in Mancherial district. As part of the inspection, he entered the RK New Tech underground mine in Srirampur area.

The Minister also visited the Srirampur open cast coal mine and the Singareni Thermal Power Plant at Jaipur. He watched a demonstration of new safety instruments and machines given by the safety staff of Singareni. Mr. Jagadeeshwar Reddy said 11 underground mines were operational in Singareni at present. He said the government was making efforts to increase production while assuring safety of the miners. The Minister was accompanied by Srirampur General Manager Sd. M. Subhani, Director (Projects and Planning) Manohar Rao and others.
