Mahajana Padayatra meeting in Hyderabad on March 19

Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan will be the chief guest at the ‘Telangana Samajika Sankshema Smara Sammelanam’ (Telangana Social Welfare Struggle Meet) to be held at Nizam College grounds on March 19, in culmination of the ‘Mahajana Padyatra’ undertaken by CPI(M) Telangana State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram and others.

At a press conference on Thursday, the party’s State Secretariat members said members from left parties and leaders and intellectuals from various social categories would address the meeting.

The final leg of the ‘Mahajana Padayatra’ would be held from Sundarayya Vignana Kendram at Baghlingampally, the members including G.Nagaiah and B.Venkat said. The tour which had begun on October 17, 2016, would have completed 4,000 kilometres in 154 days.

The party placed over 25 demands before the government which include land distribution to dalits and tribals, pattas for forest lands being cultivated by forest dwellers, housing plots and double bedroom houses for the poor, continuation of SC/ST Sub-plan Act, sub-plans for BCs and minorities, filling of government vacancies, implementation of 2013 Land Acquisition Act, and 12 per cent reservations for minorities, among others.
