The Lokayukta has registered a case against Ranga Reddy district Collector Vani Prasad, GHMC Commissioner T. Krishna Babu, Rajiv Swagruha MD Shalini Mishra and others in a complaint on illegal constructions related to Rajiv Swagruha apartments in Serilingampally.

Janam Kosam, a NGO working for protection of lakes, complained that Rajiv Swagruha project was taken up on an open stretch of land between two lakes i.e., Chakali Cheruvu and Gopi Cheruvu in Serilingampally mandal. Encroaching into large parts of land which actually was full tank level (FTL) and buffer zone, boundaries were erected in Chakali Cheruvu, the complaint stated.

Thakur Rajkumar Singh, general secretary of Janam Kosam, maintained that the government organisations headed by senior officials were not acting to protect the water body. This despite government orders clearly stating that no building activity other recreational use should be carried out within 30 metres from the boundary of the lake, he maintained.
