Yet another project of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) appears to have got mired in delays.
Though the work on Inter City Bus Terminal as per schedule should have started towards 2010 yearend, ironically the process of technical clearances for the much awaited project has not been completed so far. The HMDA had received two technical bids for the Rs.100 crore project proposed on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
As per the announced schedule, the technical bids were to be scrutinised and the process of financial bids completed to enable the work to start by December end. However, so far, the project did not inch forward with the HMDA officials maintaining that certain issues related to evaluation of technical bids were ‘in final stage’.
“There were certain clarifications related to the bids submitted to us and the technical committee is looking after them. It will be completed soon and then we will forward it to financial committee,” said an official.
The project for which bids were called in July last year looks at setting up a dedicated bus terminal facility with a host of associated facilities on a spread of 55 acres at a site located on Miyapur-Kompally Intermediate Ring Road. Floated on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis, the project when completed promise to provide certain reprieve for city traffic by offering decongestion of the roads from buses.
The Terminal has been planned to provide facility of parking for 200 buses and also come up with platforms exclusively meant for outstation buses apart from 30 bus bays for the buses shuttling to and from the city. An important feature has been to incorporate adequate space for 1,000 buses to idle between the time of their arrival and departure.
Apart from such vast parking facilities, the model bus terminus had plans of putting together several ancillary features meant for the crew such as a budget hotel, dormitories, convenient shops, food courts and health centres.
