Madhapur police on Saturday arrested an IT employee Sravan Kumar in the sensational suicide case of K. Sunitha whose charred body was found at an isolated place near Bhagyanagar Society on February 15.

Initially, police registered a case of murder after finding her body but eventually altered the section of law to abetment to suicide. “Investigation confirmed that Sunitha burnt herself to death depressed over rejection of her love by Sravan,” Madhapur ACP Ramana Kumar said.

The victim earlier worked in Just Dial company where she got introduced to Sravan. Their friendship blossomed into love and Sravan assured to marry her, the ACP said. “He took nearly one lakh rupees citing some personal needs and demanded more money to marry her,” Mr. Kumar explained.

During interrogation, Sravan admitted to police that he developed friendship with five more women and used to move around with them. Sunitha and Sravan used to send messages to one another through WhatsApp with the names of Hajra Noor and Maddy respectively.

On learning about his affairs, the victim began insisting that he should marry her but Sravan used to evade answers.

“Recently, Sravan came in touch with another woman through a matrimonial website and decided to marry her. “When Sunitha contacted him, he threatened her over phone and sent obscene and abusive text messages,” the ACP said.

Apparently worried over Sravan's evasive and abusive messages, the woman continued to send messages to him requesting him to accept her love.

Sunitha conveyed to him that she had no option but to die if he rejected her love.
