The city wore a festive look and people turned into joyful mood as Ramzan festival was celebrated with religious fervour across the city.

The festival mood was evident at the mosques where lakhs of people turned up for prayers and later visited their relatives and friends along with families to exchange greetings. Delicacies including the quintessential sheer korma and dum biryani was served to the visiting friends and relatives and also sent to their friends’ homes.

The historic Mir Alam Idgah saw thousands of people gathering for the prayers and officials made all arrangements at the venue. Similar congregations were seen at most places in and around the city. Traffic restrictions were imposed at many places to ensure smooth celebrations and avoid traffic snarls.

The Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao visited the house of Deputy Chief Minister, Mehmood Ali to participate in the celebrations. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Etala Rajender apart from GHMC Mayor, Bonthu Rammohan. Mr Chandrasekhar Rao enjoyed the delicacies served at the celebrations. He later went to the residence of Bodhan MLA, Shakeel. Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, E.S.L. Narasimhan, Opposition Leader in Legislative Assembly, K. Jana Reddy and several other leaders conveyed their greetings to the Muslim brethren.
