Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said water for irrigation will be supplied from Godavari to all the fields in Kondapaka mandal in the district.

Participating in various development programmes held at Medinipur, Marpadaga and Nagireddypally villages on Friday, Mr. Harish Rao said that former chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu had promised to supply water about two decades ago but nothing materialised and the work was stalled mid-way.

“After formation of Telangana we are spending ₹ 40 crore for digging canals, filling tanks and an effort is on to irrigate about 20,000 acres. Digging of canals was completed for 26 km out of a total length of 28 km, which will be completed by the next rainy season,” said Mr. Harish Rao.

Referring to G.O. 123, the Minister said that farmers would get better compensation compared with under the L.A. Act- 2013 and some farmers were yet to receive money for the land they sold to the Government. “The Congress party filed cases against the G.O. 123, but we are confident that we can win the case and do justice to farmers,” said the Minister.
