The stage was set for the celebration of divorce on a large scale across the city. As part of their unique campaign to promote source-level segregation of household waste, the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) officials on Wednesday celebrated the ‘Wet and dry waste divorce day’ by organising awareness programmes and events.

The GHMC Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy, Mayor B. Rammohan along with senior officials, corporators and staff participated in a number of programmes. In 15 garbage transfer stations across the city, the officials spoke to the locals and the lower-rung staff about the importance of segregating the waste. The GHMC officials also engaged with the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) in the areas of Somajiguda, Qutbullapur and parts of Secunderabad.
