The district administration released an expected delivery date (EDD) calendar for pregnant women here on Tuesday.
In each primary health centre, pregnant women would be identified with their EDD and a calendar would be prepared. The calendar would carry the phone number of the expectant mother or that of her family.
If the woman has any problems, it would be noted separately so that it could be addressed during emergencies. Doctors would also advise the women not to go for C-section delivery.
The doctor would regularly interact with the pregnant women over phone to make them aware of the precautions to be taken. After delivery, the doctors would track the condition of both the mother and newborn baby.
“This exercise is aimed at cent per cent safe and institutional deliveries. The doctors have to take all precautions and interact with pregnant women. Action will be initiated if any negligence if found,” said Collector Manickaraj Kannan, handing over the EDD to doctors at the Collectorate on Tuesday.
