Bhanuprakash, the SSC student of the Zilla Parishad High School in Chandrugonda, who was beaten to death in a scuffle with a fellow student in the classroom on Friday, at his funeral held in the mandal headquarters town of Chandrugonda on Saturday.

Grief stricken parents and other close relatives of the deceased wept inconsolably during the funeral held on the outskirts of the town in the afternoon. Earlier, the school education authorities concerned handed over a compensation of ₹1 lakh to the bereaved family. Several teachers and others have contributed to the funeral expenses. The authorities have already suspended the headmistress and a teacher of the ZP High School on charge of dereliction of duty. The Chandrugonda police registered a case against the accused, a juvenile, under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC. The case will be referred to the Juvenile Justice Board, police sources said.
