YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy said that geographic division would not deter Telugu people from staying united and cooperating with each other.

Participating in the Telangana Formation Day celebrations in party office here on Monday, he congratulated Telangana people on achieving the long-felt demand of separate statehood to the region. Mr. Reddy wished Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao all the best in steering the State towards development and assured party’s support to the TRS government’s constructive agenda.

Speaking after hoisting the national flag, Mr. Jagan said: “We tried to keep Andhra Pradesh united, but eventually it was divided. However, it’s impossible to divide Telugu people as they speak common language and I hope they will take forward the rich heritage of Telugu culture and will help each other.”

Late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was alive in the hearts of Telangana people through his welfare schemes, Mr. Jagan said adding that it was late YSR who had helped the dry-land farmers of Telangana by providing free power to about 15 lakh agriculture pump-sets. Besides, the irrigation projects planned by late YSR would be remembered by the region’s farmers for a long time, he noted.

The party would strive to bring in the YSR golden era in Telangana as well, Mr. Jagan vowed. Party leaders from Telangana M.A. Rahman, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, P. Vijaya Reddy and others participated.
