Demonetisation ruined country’s economy: Mallu

January 20, 2017 01:10 am | Updated 01:10 am IST - KHAMMAM:

Narendra Modi-led regime at the Centre has ruined the country’s economy, carefully nurtured by the successive prime ministers, by thrusting demonetisation unilaterally on the nation, alleged Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Addressing a dharna organised by the women’s wing of the District Congress Committee (DCC) against demonetisation here on Thursday, he lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi charging him with implementing demonetisation in a ‘dictatorial’ manner, without knowing the ‘fundamentals of economy.’

Millions of impoverished masses mainly comprising farmers, labourers and street vendors were reeling under the devastating impact of demonetisation, he alleged, deploring that women workers in the unorganised sector were the worst hit by the “illogical” decision of the Central Government.

“The unwarranted decision was taken on the pretext of curbing black money with the hidden agenda of serving the interests of some influential corporate firms at the cost of livelihoods of millions of poor people all over the country,” he further alleged.

Women Congress cadre should explain to the masses the “real intention” behind demonetisation and actively participate in the nation-wide anti-demonetisation stir being spearheaded by the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, he said.

District Congress Committee president A. Satyam and the leaders of the women’s wing of the party also spoke.
