November 07, 2016 09:37 pm | Updated 09:40 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Cyient India Ltd, through its wholly owned subsidiary Cyient Europe Ltd, will acquire BlomAerofilms Ltd., a firm based at Somerset, UK that provides ground surveying, digital mapping, aerial photography and laser scanning solutions.

A definitive agreement to acquire 100 per cent shares of BlomAerofilms has been signed by Cyient Europe and Blom AS, Norway, a wholly owned subsidiary of NRC Group ASA of Norway. The transaction is EPS accretive and expected to be completed over the next 30 days, a release from Cyient India said on Monday without giving details of the financials.

President-EMEA and BU Head for Utilities and Geospatial of Cyient John Renard said by combining BlomAerofilms with Cyient’s geospatial business, Cyient will be well positioned as a complete service provider covering acquisition, modelling and processing services.

“This is very exciting for both our existing customers and prospects. In addition Cyient will look to extend these combined services into our other key markets such as Smart Cities, Utilities and Transportation.”

Blom employs a core team of around 40 people and had CY15 revenue of Pound Sterling 6 million. Its presence in the UK can be traced to 1919 when Aerofilms was founded as the UK’s first-ever commercial aerial photography company. Over the decades, it built a wealth of experience and an impressive track record around all types of geospatial data acquisition and services, including aerial and ground-based LIDAR and data modelling, the release said.
