The Congress party leaders and activists took out a massive rally in the city from Charminar on Thursday against demonetisation and its effect.
The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who addressed the meeting, alleged that the demonetisation move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ruined the country’s economy while pushing every citizen into crisis.
He also slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for supporting the note ban that he said has shattered Telangana’s financial position.
He said no section of the society was spared and demonetisation has crippled everyone and the rally was to protest against the inconvenience caused to people and the indifferent attitude of the government.
He also questioned Mr. Modi’s silence over 50-day deadline while his latest address to the nation has not mentioned anything about lifting restrictions on withdrawals from banks and ATMs.
The Congress leaders demanded that the Prime Minister reply to Citizen’s Charter of Demand presented by AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi on demonetisation issue. The rally organised by former Minister Danam Nagender was addressed by former Union Ministers S. Jaipal Reddy and Balram Naik, former PCC presidents V. Hanumantha Rao and Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav, NSUI president B. Venkat among others.
