The team of Sukanya Das and Anupriya Chaturvedi, MBA final year students of ICFAI Business School (IBS) Hyderabad were shortlisted for the final of the prestigious Baylor USASBE Student Case Writing Competition 2015, held at Hilton Downtown, Tampa, Florida, USA.

The team was among the six selected for the final among the 25 teams that participated in the competition from across the world. The Baylor University Entrepreneurship Program and United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) jointly sponsored the event.

The IBS students were the only ones from Asia to be selected as finalists and they were mentored by Satish. D, Associate Professor, Finance, IBS Hyderabad.

The Case Study presented by Sukanya Das “Chetna Sinha’s Mahila Sahakari Bank: Transforming the Lives of Rural Women through Financial Inclusion” dealt with the challenges of scaling up a small financial institution while Case Study presented by Anupriya Chaturvedi “Bandhan: Commercialising a Social Cause” dwelt on the issues faced by the entrepreneur in transforming a micro-finance institution into a commercial bank.

The presentations of both the students independently were appreciated by the jury for the way in which they brought out the dilemma faced by the entrepreneurs in their respective settings and for the clarity with which the concepts and learning outcomes were presented, IBS officials said.

The United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) is the largest independent, professional, academic organization in the world dedicated to advancing the discipline of entrepreneurship. It has over 1000 members from universities and colleges, for-profit businesses, non-profit organisations, and the public sector.
