CM’s assurances remain unfulfilled: TPCC chief

January 30, 2017 11:38 pm | Updated 11:39 pm IST - SURYAPET:

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has failed to fulfil all the assurances given to the farming community so far.

Even the promises made on the floor of the Legislative Assembly had not been kept so far, Mr. Reddy said speaking to newspersons at Huzurnagar in Suryapet district on Monday.

He also questioned the Chief Minister's continued support to demonetisation, which he said had badly hit the agriculture sector. He said as against the target of Rs.13,000 crore crop loans to be disbursed for the ongoing rabi (Yaasangi), the banks could give only Rs.7,500 crore.

Despite good monsoon the total sown area in the State was 25 per cent below normal, he said.

“The decrease in sown area in rabi is the direct result of demonetisation and the farmers who cultivated soya bean, pulses and maize in kharif did not get the support price for their produce. Even private money lenders were unable to finance farmers due to currency crunch,” the TPCC chief said.
