Mystery shrouded the death of Vamshi, 16, who was found dead in Matrushri orphanage in Sahebnagar of Vanasthalipuram on Thursday. While residents of the locality and representatives of some voluntary organisations suspected foul play behind the boy’s death, investigators maintained that it could be suicide.
“A suicide note purportedly written by the boy was found in the orphanage. We are yet to ascertain reasons that compelled him to end his life,” Vanasthalipuram Inspector S. Murali Krishna said.
However, the police were not sure how the boy died. He was not found hanging. There were no marks on this neck or throat suggesting that he hanged himself. Some surmised that he could have died of consuming poison, but no poison bottle was found on the premises of the orphanage.
According to the Inspector, around 10.30 a.m., workers of the orphanage found the boy lying dead near the wash room. Other boys of the orphanage had left for school while Vamshi stayed back in his room.
Couple commit suicide
A private financier Laxma Reddy, 30, who consumed poison along with his wife Kavitha, 24, in their house four days ago, died on Thursday while undergoing treatment in a private hospital. His wife died in the same hospital on Wednesday.
The couple used to live at Upparpalli in Rajendranagar. Kavitha’s father alleged that her in-laws had been harassing her for additional dowry for quite some time. “Based on his complaint a case under Section 304-B (dowry death) of Indian Penal Code was registered,” Rajendranagar Inspector V. Umender said.
