HYDERABAD: Nobel laureate Kurt Wuthrich, who received the coveted prize in 2002, said sports shaped his career as a scientist.
Interacting with students at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Technology on Wednesday, Prof. Wuthrich said all his initial degrees were in sports. He advised students on importance of fitness and how attempting the impossible can pave the way to a successful scientific career.
Prof. Wuthrich also urged administrators at IICT to let students use crucial scientific equipment often, even as stated that often Indian post-doctoral researchers have little experience in handling equipment.
The Nobel laureate delivered a lecture marking the 75 years of foundation of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
