The State election authorities are apparently happy over the large amounts of cash and other items being seized by the enforcement officials during their searches.

Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar said the enforcement officials could so far seize cash, liquor and other items worth over ₹82 crore which was much higher compared to ₹76 crore seized during the previous election held in united Andhra Pradesh. The CEO said the stringent measures put in place by the election authority have ensured a check on the use of money and other items to lure voters.

Dubious distinction

“Given the quantum of seizures made, we are playing a Ranji Trophy match in Telangana as compared to Tamil Nadu which won the world cup with seizure of over ₹700 crore by the time election process was completed,” he said drawing parallels with the quantum of seizure.
