54 booked for drunken driving during the day

Fifty-four motorists were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol above permissible limits on Wednesday. The Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a special drive on drunken driving during the daytime, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and booked drunk driving cases against the violators.

Counselling

Those booked included drivers of two four-wheelers and 45 two-wheelers. The drunken drivers will be counselled at the respective traffic police stations, apart from the Traffic Training Institute at Goshamahal and Begumpet.

About 11 drunken drivers sentenced to community service by the court in the recent past, were made to assist the traffic police at Khairatabad junction, in manning traffic. The violators also held placards and spread awareness regarding traffic safety for about two hours.
