360 held for travelling ticketless

As many as 360 persons were apprehended during a major drive undertaken by the Hyderabad Division of the South Central Railway on Friday to curb ticketless travel and other travel-related offences.

Giving details, an SCR release on the Mega Fortress Check and Magisterial Check said 284 of the persons were travelling without tickets, while 76 cases of un-booked luggage were detected.

Nearly ₹1.05 lakh was realised as penalty during the checks, which were carried out under the overall supervision of B.D. Christopher, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and M.S. Sunil, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Hyderabad Division.

Some 90 persons, comprising officials as well as personnel of ticket checking squad, Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police of Kacheguda and Mahabubnagar sections of the Hyderabad Division were associated with the drive.

A total of 23 ticketless passengers were prosecuted with the help of the IInd Metropolitan Magistrate and 1st Class Magistrate for Railways, Secunderabad, who attended a camp court conducted at Shadnagar near here, the release said.
