The salaries of the staff working in CID, AP Police Academy, Intelligence Bureau and Police Training Centres in the State will be hiked by 30 per cent.
This was decided at a review meeting on law and order chaired by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy here on Saturday. He expressed surprise when officials informed him that the long pending issue was not resolved so far. The government order giving effect to the hike will come into effect from Monday, Dr Reddy said.
The officials briefed him on the recent review meeting on internal security held in New Delhi and the State’s preparedness to meet any eventuality. Reviewing the arrangements for the ensuing Ganesh immersion, the meeting was informed that as against 14,000-strong force deployed last year for the immersion procession, as many as 27,000 police personnel would be drafted for bandobust. Additional forces were also being deployed at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Warangal.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for providing employment to the unemployed youth in the remote areas to wean away them from naxal influence. He felt that the focus on remote areas has some how decreased compared to earlier years. He wanted that additional efforts to be made in a focused manner for providing job oriented training to the youth and sensitizing the people.
He directed officials to conduct a survey of all the naxal-effected areas and review the issue regularly, once in six months. On the issue of counterfeit notes especially in Rs.1000 denomination, he directed officials to be more vigilant and bust such rackets and take stringent action.
