A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three men for over a month at an old age home under the L.B. Nagar police station limits. The incident came to light after the victim’s uncle lodged a complaint against three men on Monday, after which a case was registered.

According to the police, the accused were identified as Manik Rao, Srinivas Reddy, and Venugopal, who were reportedly managing the Akshaya old age home. The trio is yet to be arrested, an official said. “The girl is a native of Andhra Pradesh. She informed her family about the sexual assault, after which her uncle approached the police,” the official added.

Censuring the Labour Department and other authorities, the Balala Hakkula Sangham said the government has failed to rescue minors put to work.

Dead body found

A dead body of 19-year-old Akash was found by the Jagathgirigutta police on Monday under suspicious circumstances. The deceased was believed to be mentally-ill and may have jumped to his death from the top of an under construction building.

According to the police, residents of Venkateshwara Nagar, where Akash’s body was found, saw his body with severe injuries and informed officials. The deceased was a resident of Vanasthalipuram, and was residing with his maternal uncle at Venkateshwara Nagar after his father’s demise a few years ago.

Last his uncle saw him was around 2.30 a.m. on Monday, and noticed he was missing after waking up late in the morning. “The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. The autopsy report will tell us the exact cause of death,” a police official said. Based on a complaint by Akash’s uncle, a case was registered.

The accused were identified as Mohd. Ibrahim, Trilok Singh Nath, Md. Jafar Shaikh, Gopal Babu, and Bhavesh Gaiker. According to the police, while Trilok is a native of Himachal Pradesh, the other four hail from Maharashtra.

Man imprisoned

A local court sentenced a man to three years imprisonment for assaulting a police constable when the latter went to apprehend him. The incident took place last year when Syed Dastagir had reportedly attacked Imran, an official from the Bhavaninagar police station said.

A case was then registered against Dastagir under Section 353 of the IPC. He was earlier accused of sexually assaulting a minor and killing her. However, he was acquitted in the case last October, the official said.
